Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.” (CCC 1213)

St. Alphonsus Church welcomes those who wish to be baptized into our Catholic faith! For parents interested in baptizing their children, please know there is a preparation program involved to help parents understand their roles in raising their children in the Catholic Church.

Those who wish to baptize their children should contact the parish office at (315) 252-7261 to begin the process. Parents will then meet with Fr. Tim on a one-on-one basis for a class, generally offered on the first Saturday morning and the third Wednesday evening of each month.  Godparent requirements will be discussed as well. A date and time will then be chosen for the baptism ceremony, which takes place during our weekend Masses. If you have any questions about the process, or are ready to baptize your child, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We look forward to welcoming you and the newest addition to your family into our family!
