The St. Alphonsus Food Pantry is the only Catholic food pantry in Cayuga County. Its mission statement, that “we are a caring community, who reaches out to those in need by providing good, nutritious food to help alleviate hunger in our community,” summarizes what we try to do on a daily basis.
We are open six days a week, Monday through Saturday, and are the only pantry open on the weekend. We are also on call during off hours for emergencies. Our standard hours are Monday through Saturday from 9:00am-11:30am.
Staffed mainly by full-time and part-time volunteers, we provide food to those in need on a daily basis. We also undertake various projects throughout the year, especially at holidays, providing baskets of food and full meals for dozens of families at Thanksgiving, Christmas, community food drives, and other special events.
We also work with other organizations in the area and provide referrals to anyone in need of other services, such as Catholic Charities, WIC (Women, Infant & Children nutrition program), Chapel House, Head Start, Warm the Children, the Christmas Elf, the Pet Pantry, and more.
If you or someone you know is in need of any of the services the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry provides, are interested in volunteering, or would like to make a donation, please contact us at (315) 252-0710.
